A Guide to Collecting Family Histories During COVID-19

The whole world has been touched in this time of Covid-19. Our Story Gathering project is a chance for us to stand back and gain an understanding of the things we are experiencing in our family, our community, and our world.

During the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic, families have been staying home without their usual routines of work, school, and play. Some families have spent more time together and have had to adopt new habits, evaluate new options, and make their own opportunities. Some families have had to stay apart, unable to have contact with one another. When we look back on this time in history, how will we know how you and/or your family was impacted? We’re looking to capture your story and the stories of those you are with, they may be your family, neighbors, people you consider to be family, a pet(s), long-distance Zoom friends, or only yourself. We all have a story to tell.

There have been confusing things, surprising things, funny things, annoying things, tragic things, and puzzling things. Many stories are coming to light during the time of this pandemic. All of these stories will be woven into the fabric of our family history. Let’s work together to preserve them for ourselves and future generations. Then when we look back on this time in history, we will know how our family was impacted.
